I came up with the concept of this song while on a long bike ride. The journey out was long, beautiful and easy and the breeze was on my back. When I turned around to head home, I had wind gusts in my face the whole way. It was harder to pedal and harder to breathe. The word HEADWINDS popped up in my brain and I wrote a quick few lines and half of the chorus in a word doc on my phone during the ride home.
Many weeks later when I was puzzle piecing the song together, I made the lyric about things getting in the way of life, situations slowing you down and putting things off, and not being where you thought you would be in life.
